Rapid Fiction

I've received a CD from Rapid Fiction from the London area. The immediate problem is the recording quality - the vocals are very low and the sound is pretty muddy. I will persevere but I can remember getting much better quality from my old Analogue 8-track when I used to play. Witness (the Wigan band) also used it to record their demo that got them signed to Island records. 8 tracks can probably be picked up for about £250 now (if not less) and there are plenty of PC digital recording possibilities.
